GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
- Hollyhocks develop tall flower spikes with multiple blooms along the stems. Flowering time depends on the variety, climate, and sowing season; some varieties may bloom in their first season, while traditional hollyhocks often flower more strongly the following year.
- Water gently with a spray bottle or fine mist to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Seeds usually begin to germinate within 1–3 weeks, depending on temperature and seed quality.
- When the seedlings develop about 3–4 true leaves, transplant them into larger pots or their permanent growing location. Leave approximately 30–60 cm between plants.
- Water when the top layer of soil begins to dry, preferably at the base of the plant. Fertilize about once a month. Since hollyhocks can grow tall, provide stakes or support to help prevent them from falling over in strong winds.
- Choose loose, nutrient-rich, well-draining soil. Select a planting location that receives plenty of sunlight, ideally 6 hours or more per day.
- You can soak the seeds in warm water for a few hours before sowing to help them absorb moisture. Sow the seeds about 0.5–1 cm deep, then cover them with a thin layer of soil.
